伙计，哥们儿（打招呼或语气加强） — Max 见到 Mel 说 "where you been, man"，语气随意亲切，相当于中文"老兄"：Hey man, long time no see!

实用结构短语

get this

听好了，注意接下来要说的事 — Max 和 Mel 都用这个短语吊胃口，是全片制造悬念感的固定套路，先说 get this 再抛出意外信息：And get this — the whole trip only cost $50.

the next thing I know

接下来我知道的是（下一秒突然发生） — Mel 讲述从吃药到飞上天的荒诞经历时用到，中间省略具体过程，营造出突兀、戏剧化的效果：I fell asleep, and the next thing I know, it was morning.

I'm just saying

我只是随便说说而已 — Max 明明在挑衅猫狗关系，却用这句话假装自己只是客观陈述，是很经典的"装无辜"式表达：I'm just saying, maybe we should double-check the numbers.

go so far as to

竟然做到；甚至做出（极端的行为） — Max 说 "I wouldn't go so far as to call us soul mates"，用来强调某种行为或说法程度之极端：I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the best movie ever.
